James Ungurait is the founder and creative force behind Ungurait House LLC. A lifelong writer, brand builder, and independent publisher, James blends sharp literary insight with a relentless entrepreneurial spirit. His journey began with a single novel and a belief: that enduring stories deserve more than assembly-line publishing—they deserve care, craft, and a house built to last.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in History and a minor in Creative Writing, James also brings a strong background in operations, branding, and business strategy. Before founding Ungurait House, he led the growth and repositioning of a multi-million-dollar student housing community—transforming it into a nationally recognized lifestyle brand through bold storytelling, strategic leadership, and results-driven marketing.
Today, Ungurait House is more than a publisher. It’s a boutique storytelling studio—home to imprints like IRONWAKE and Anthology—and built on the belief that great books should endure. From crafting legacy editions to launching bold new voices, James leads with vision, discipline, and heart.
